The Air Force has a lot of mediocre colleges trying to get you to take classes with them wherever you go. University of Maryland University College? Yeah, that’s not even a typo. Sorry any college that has to say what it is 3 times in the name isn’t worth my time, I do not care much for redunancies. With that in mind, where the hell is my W2 UPS? My mom sent it a week ago, this is nuts. I need my tax money, here is a tip for those not in the military considering joining. Regardless of service we all get paid the same (also regardless of job with some special exceptions) E-3 pay != high life. For those who have never written anything in C, C++, or Java != means (not equal) your programmer tip of the day too. Well, I guess I’ll go check with the dorm manager in the building I am supposed to be moving to today so I can get the key and hopefully get that thing done.

I am here in Osan now, it’s cold and there is snow on the ground. Looks like home in New York only more Asian-y.
I am very upset with Apple, so as I think I wrote some where else my MacBook had a slow fall in between my bed and the wall of an astonishing 2-3 feet, after which the backlight no longer worked on my LCD. The LCD itself is intact. So after the countless minutes talking to the Apple rep over the phone she assured me it was covered in my warranty and that they could fix it at the Apple store in Tucson (which is an hour away from Ft. Huachuca) – so I take it there only to talk to some Apple store employee with an over inflated sense of worth talked down to me like I was just another Joe Customer who never has been around computers. Clearly I know exactly whats wrong but he still talks to me like I am an idiot then tells me they won’t cover it. I say, fine how much? 650 for parts + 100 for labor. You’ve got to be ######## me I say – it’s just a back light. “well its tier 4 damage, it doesn’t matter whats broken if the LCD isn’t working its all the same.” Now I am mad – “So you are telling me a loose connection costs the same as repairing a craked LCD?” “Yes” “That is the biggest crock of #### I have ever heard of, give me my MacBook I’ll fix it myself.”
I am very displeased with Apple, when I have more time I intend to follow up that displeasure a bit more. In the mean time I am staying in the Air Force Inn on base looks like I will all weekend while I wait for someone from the Squadron to come fetch me. The plane ride was insanely long, I don’t look forward to making the trip back for quite a few months. Well… That’s all for now, if I made any typos sorry I am using MsnTV in my room, I didn’t even know anyone still used this. Oh well, hopefully my MacBook will be up and running soon. And yes I do know how to fix laptops, I just really hate doing it.

Alright, valuable lesson – don’t drop your MacBook on the back left corner because your back light will stop working. I did this two days ago and it sucks – I am taking it to Tucson in a few hours to have it fixed… the downside is people in Arizona are absolutely terrible drivers, you may think that “sure everyone says that about people outside of their own state”… nope, if you were here you’d know. It’s like everyone got caught up in the Fast and Furious movies resulting in moronic driving everywhere. On the way to Phoenix before my leave there were about 6 car accidents on the way there… it’s important to note that is was a sunny day, good visibility and around 50 degrees. I leave for Korea Thursday morning to begin my year tour of duty… meh’ I’m trying to overhaul my website a bit and make it more organized by utilizing multiple categories rather than just two. Not that many people come here anyway but for the few who do – this will help. With that, I am off.
