Regina Spektor – The Call

When I was a kid I always loved The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis – so when I was in my senior year and we did that as our first play of the year I was stoked!  Even better, I got to play Edmond!  Yes, lame perhaps – but renting the old BBC movie of this when I went to my grandma and grandpa’s house and watching it with my sister Grace are some of my happiest childhood memories.  We used to pretend the coat closet was the wardrobe haha, lame kids I guess.  Anyway, when the first movie came out I loved it and now I finally have seen Prince Caspian and love it even more than the first!  It’s a great movie for everyone – one I will be sure my younger brothers get to enjoy these stories as much as I did when I was their age.  No doubts that when I have my own children they’ll know all these stories too.   If you haven’t seen this yet do it!  Also the song I put up is from the ending of the movie, it’s completely perfect for the mood.  That’s about all.

I love this movie so much, I loved it when I was a kid and I still love it.  It makes me think of my little brothers.

They are that: animals can talk; your favorite blanket is woven from a fabric so mighty, that once pulled over your head, it becomes an impenetrable force field, nothing is too heavy to lift with the aid of a cape; your hand, held forefinger out and thumb up, actually fires bullets; jumping from any height with an umbrella is completely safe; monsters exist and can be both seen an done battle with; and the greatest, most special and regrettable loss of all: the ability to fly.

This movie is amazing – I don’t know how I went this long without seeing it.  For those who haven’t seen it I recommend seeing it as soon as possible!  I’m definitely making sure my brothers have this if they don’t all ready.

Everyone needs to see this movie… John Lennon truely was an amazing human being.  I can only hope some day I will be a fraction as amazing as he was.

For starters lets just take a look at this.

Smoking isn’t that cool, and when you sound like you have throat cancer it’s a good time to quit. No one is intimidated by the guy with throat cancer they just say, “this dude has throat cancer let’s punch him in the neck and then run because he’ll get tired quickly.” This was probably one of the biggest things to ruin the movie for me, the horrible bat voice. What the fuck.

Second, how about this?

Keep in mind this isn’t the actual bat motorcycle from the movie, but an artist rendition of it – the artist just happens to be me. No one is scared by a big wheel, not even the wimpy kid with asthma on the play ground is quaking in his LA lights (do kids still wear these?)

Third and final.
Batman is loved and adored by children all over the world (not me as a children and not my brothers as children I’ve set them straight) – how is this a problem? Well would you want your kids watching this movie? They made toys for the movies and other kiddie related things but at the end of the day I wouldn’t let any one under 19 watch this movie. It’s the darkest thing of all time – now that doesn’t make it a bad movie, but for what I expect of batman to be it does.

Overall, it wasn’t a horrible movie – it was watchable, kind of… when Bruce Wanye wasn’t batman although Christian Bale is kind of teh suck as an actor anyway. This is definitely not a movie I’ll ever get bored one day and say to myself, I guess I’ll watch the dark knight. I have the first 4 seasons of Smallville on DVD for that.

Well several months later I finally got my hands on a bootleg Korean copy of the latest Indiana Jones flick. What… the… fuck… I don’t even know where to begin on this one. First of all it takes place only ten years after the last one, the problem with that is over 25 years have passed since then and it shows on all the characters’ faces. So all ready I’m not into it I can’t get beyond the fact that a super old Indy is trying to play the same game he used to play when in fact he could break into pieces at any moment. Secondly, aliens!? Come the fuck on George.

This man needs to be stopped!

Here’s my reaction

Seriously, first Star Wars then Indiana Jones. What is next? The Labyinth part 2 with nine million year old David Bowie? Please stop the madness!

This is the best movie I have seen in the past year, easily.  I don’t even know how to summarize it other than absolutely beautiful.  It captures human nature at it’s best and worst, loyalty and betrayal.  I’m still at awe and words just aren’t coming right now… it’s that good.  Rent it, buy it, just watch it.
